The Medic-Alert Foundation is one of the first organizations that supplies people with jewelry and a walled card that contains important facts about you including:

• your medical conditions 
• doctors
• medications
• allergies
• blood type
• organ donor information 
• medical directive

The The Medic-Alert Foundation has a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week number that emergency personnel can call or fax.

Citizens for Better Care is an independent, non-profit organization that seeks to provide information and advocacy to enhance the self-determination and well-being of long-term care consumers in Michigan.

The Wayne County Friendly Reassurance Program provides a telephone contact Monday through Friday to homebound individuals that reside in:

• Belleville
• Canton
• Huron Township
• Garden City
• Inkster
• Plymouth
• Plymouth Township
• Romulus
• Sumpter Township
• Van Buren Township
• Westland

The Wayne County Friendly Reassurance Program has an emergency response plan in the event a participant does not answer the phone. The program is free of charge, but donations are appreciated.

The Eldercare Locator can be used to search for information or assistance for older adults/seniors in many areas of Michigan. This can also be initiated by contacting the Area Agency on Aging that serves the region you are in.

The Senior Alliance, otherwise known as TSA, is a nonprofit senior agency designed to be the Area Agency on Aging, known as AAA, for the 34 western and southern cities of Wayne County. Funds for TSA services are usually provided through the Michigan Office of Services to the Aging along with the Michigan Department of Community Health. Most programs cater to those 60 years old and older by many programs very in their requirements. Please check with the TSA for available programs via the phone number or website above.
