The Family Law Assistance Project (FLAP) is a collaborative program between Lakeshore Legal Aid and the Thomas M. Cooley Law School's Auburn Hills campus which offers:

  • legal services to low-income Oakland County residents at no cost 
  • counseling clients
  • preparing legal pleadings
  • representing them in the Oakland County Circuit Court on family law issues ranging from divorce to personal protection orders. 

FLAP accepts prospective applicants every other Wednesday.

The The Thomas M. Cooley Law School offers an Estate Planning Clinic with Lakeshore Legal Aid at Cooley's Auburn Hills campus available to all Oakland County residents who are 60 years and older and asset-eligible.

The Help Desk

The Help Desk is open from 1:30 to 4:30pm every Thursday, in the lobby near the north entrance of the Oakland County Courthouse. It is free of charge on a first-come, first-serve basis and you can educate yourself on how to:

  • File Motions
  • Seek Return of Drivers Licenses
  • Expungement of criminal records
  • and other legal issues
